E-Commerce Exchange Establishes Strong Presence
In The Midwest With New Regional Sales Office
CHICAGO, IL -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- July 20, 2000
-- E-Commerce Exchange (ECX), a
leading Internet payment service provider, announces the acquisition of an agent office in
Chicago. The downtown office serves as the company’s Midwest regional sales office
and houses 12 e-consultants and 10 support people who aid in sales and customer
service. ECX offers merchants the capability to securely process credit cards and
electronic checks over the Internet. The company’s corporate headquarters is in Irvine,
Calif., and its Eastern division headquarters is in Smithtown, NY. ECX has 20 affiliated
agent offices nationwide.
Until the recent acquisition, the Midwest regional sales office was an agent office established and managed by
Todd Hatch, vice president of Midwest sales, and Mike Lauria, vice president. It has generated thousands of
new customers since its creation three years ago, and Hatch and Lauria will continue to oversee day-to- day
operations. In addition to supporting Midwest customers and sales, the office will strengthen ECX’s identity and
name in the region.
“We have integrated the strengths of the agent office founded by Todd Hatch and Mike Lauria with those of
ECX’s corporate office in Southern California to establish a strong presence in the Midwest,” said Thad Bees,
vice president of sales, E-Commerce Exchange. “While working with the Chicago office over the past few years
as it was established, we identified it as a top-tier operation with exceptional employees. Todd and Mike are to
be commended for building a solid operation, and they have proven excellent leaders, which made for a smooth
transition from an agent office to the company’s Midwest regional sales office.”
As some Internet companies are struggling to maintain a competitive edge, ECX continues to grow a successful
e-commerce business and signs up approximately 2,000 new merchants each month. Last month, ECX doubled
the size of its Eastern division headquarters to handle its growing sales and client roster.
Irvine, Calif.-based E-Commerce Exchange (ECX), established in co-founders Heather and Darrin Ginsberg’s
garage in 1989, understands the difficulties start-up and small to medium size businesses face. Now a company
with over a dozen affiliate offices and more than 300 employees nationwide, ECX focuses on markets not
traditionally served by banks and other business- to-business e-commerce service providers, including small and
home-based businesses, business owners with limited credit, and others considered non-conventional, and
therefore high- risk, by banks. With a 95 percent approval rate for merchant account applications, ECX’s rapid
processing allows merchants to accept credit cards within days. ECX offers a variety of products including web
storefront design and construction, setup of merchant credit card accounts and secure online credit card and
check processing. Backed by venture capital, the privately-held company’s investors include Summit Partners,
L.P. For more information on the company, contact E-Commerce Exchange at (800) 748- 6318 or visit the
